Bad Set Design Choices

he meant they only used one waist mold for almost every set from 04-09.
and honestly I agree, I would have liked to see another waist piece.

I wish they swapped the fore-arms and lower legs. It just looks weird to me.

I know what you mean. It looks like his legs should be his arms and his arms should be his legs.

Yeah. other than that I love that lewa.

Am I the only one here though that likes the inika build and appreciates what can be done with it? When I looked through these replies I saw a lot of inika build haters…

I like the Inika build, too. It can be used for so much great stuff. Look at how well it was used on the Mahri! And that’s not even the extent to it!

You might say he had blind dedication.

If the lower arms/legs were any wider, they’d look pretty darn weird when combined with the upper limbs.

They don’t look snake-like in the slightest to me.

Not to mention his beautiful melded blades.

Especially for MOCing. Having too many specialized parts makes MOCing extremely frustrating.

All pretty much all the heroes used the same foot because they were all supposed to be the same characters on the same team. And hey, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Yes, just yes.

You just made my day buddy.

How about one without a stupid useless quarter of a gear on the bottom?

Lewa was probably supposed to have gorilla arms. Though it worked better on his canister incarnation with the shoulder jetpacks that added bulk. Maybe his vehicle figure’s arms could have been recolored Metru legs.

I don’t hate it. The skeleton just annoys me to no end. It takes a lot of work just to make something decent with it IMO.

better yet a waist that isn’t restricted to BIONICLE styling and can still be produced in current sets

for ccbs
1 I would have kept the 4 fingered hands from the glatorion and just changed the socket to the ccbs one.
4 More different feet (or atleast not silver feet for everyone)
5 when a set uses a ccbs hand DONT use the paw on the other arm (fros beast, pyrox)
6 so many sets have these skinnie arms and then a giant claw.
7 I would add more ccbs shell pieces with more detail instead of the add-on pieces.
8 blaster only sets. I hate it when sets only have blasters as weapons. melee weapons are much better for kids to play with, blasters can loose ammo.

Bionicle did this too, up to 2005, but each year used a different foot, so it wasn’t boring. Do the heroes use the same helmet design each year to resemble being a team?
And also:

wat.

The…the uh…oh come on it is on the tip of my tongue…

…The Toa mata? oh yea that’s it.

Give them a break, it was only Bonkle’s first year.

2015 was only G2 BIONICLE’s first year too. And look at those sets…

IDK man. I’ve developed a habit of making some pretty stupid typos recently.

Nope. Technically the McToran, Bohrok Va and KholiToran used the same feet, the Mata, Nuva and Vahki used the same feet and the Bohrok and Kal each used the same foot mould over the span of several years.

But I see your point. While I personally don’t like many of the BIONICLE foot designs, they were certainly diverse. However, I do think that HF managed to use the same foot design so many times because it was an inherently good design with nice aesthetics and tons of connection points.

Pretty much. 1.0, Breakout, Brain Attack and IFB all use essentially the same helmet for each character with slight variations. It wasn’t like say the Matoran/Inika/Mahri who used drastically different masks each time.

Uh… why? You like humanoid robots that don’t have human-like characteristics?

As I mentioned previously, the main HF foot design was used consistently for all the Hero figures. I don’t see a problem with that.

Why? They’re supposed to be mutants…

Yeah, that was annoying. But it was more about parts budgets then laziness.

What kinda detail? People throw this line around all the time. I want to see an actual proof of concept of what a “detailed” shell could look like.

YES! That kinda thing really annoys me as well. Well, moulded blasters à-la HF 2.0 were fine because you could easily imagine the projectiles. But sets like Kongu Mahri were definitely limited.

true, but lego does have years of constraction development behind that to make these sets so good

LEGO had “years” of Constraction (Throwbots and Roboriders) before G1 as well. :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t need to design a piece lego already proofed plenty of times that they can make cool shell pieces my favorite is the one in hf 2.0 that is used for the jetpacks. more pieces like that in different sizes and I’m happy

I just prefer the look of the glatorian hands they looked better to me because their shape of the fingres was more rounded

and I don’t dissagree that a whole team should have the same feet but the same color of boots on a team does bother me.

yeah but not as much, they were just throwing Technic beams together and just starting out with functions and stuff, that being said, the Mata are still beat out by the Toa Okoto by miles

I really wish Kopaka Phantoka had blue eyes. The other three have blue eyes.

And because yellow and snow just don’t.

And 2008, and 2009, and 2010…Yeah clearly not LEGOs fault if its happening each next year they use that specific plastic…oh wait, it is.

Two years of constraction development arent the same as five years and dozens of constraction lines to experiment with. CCBS had more time to perfect its building style while the Techic one was all over the place in terms with how to build a set.

If you take nostalgia goggles beside, Bionicle G1 sets had a lot of flaws, like a lot and people honestly try not to acknowledge them because of that nostalgia that clouds their judgement. G2 started with a much better building system and we are all better because of it.

Oh, that piece is just beautiful

To each his own.

That was only Brain Attack though. The rest of the waves didn’t have that “problem”.

#BoysWithBlueEyes

Yeah, trans light-blue and white work wonderfully together. But what “other three” are you referring to? The rest of the Toa Phatoka/Mistika have yellow/green eyes.

I think that was more a moulding issue then a plastic problem.

Oh, sorry. I meant the other Kopakas, Mata, Nuva, and Master.
