Personally, I wouldn’t TOTALLY bank on Bionicle being shown at SDCC. Maybe a teaser, but nothing more. Still hopeful, though.

I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned this, but could it be possible that ‘wobblers’ from the original leak is referring to the spiders that seem to be included in each set?

Actually, it could honestly be. I would also like confirmation on that.

And this perfectly reflects these coming days,

I honestly think that the bionicle 2015 line is more than a reboot. Perhaps it is a Different, more simpler story. I think that the defenders are possibly guardians of the golden masks (the only problem with that theory is that they would of come with the gold masks, not the toa). My other idea on the defenders is that they are a new name for matoran. Maybe lego felt that in the story they always talk about how the matoran can fight for themselves, but they look like they really couldn’t do anything and were tiny and insignificant. So they are making the matoran bigger and look like they could actually defend themselves. And they may be renamed defenders to make it simpler to kids.

They also could be trying to phase out any more words that were linked to Maori. This may not apply necessarily to matoran, which was a term made by LEGO, but with the Toa (a long held maori word) possibly being called Masters now, they may have opted to use different terminology for the rest of the universe. They can’t really change the Toa’s names though, far too iconic.

But if it did, something like “Master Tahu” wouldn’t roll off the tongue as well as “Toa Tahu”.

If they did replace toa for master and defender for matoran it won’t sound like before. Would they also change words like turaga and kanohi to simpler words like elder or just masks(usually people would call kanohi mask anyways)

does it really matter if the names change? we’ll still call them Toa and Kanohi, so it shouldn’t really affect us.

Ironically, I looked at the Bio/description for the BIONICLE’s Stars Tahu and it calls him “Tahu: The Master of Fire” so it could still work if phrased like that. Also of note, someone found on an old Bionicle site descriptions of Vakama and Nuju being called the “Defenders of Fire/Ice” though I would doubt these defender sets are the new Turaga.

I seriously doubt Bionicle will be their Focus. Its a big deal to us, but only a small part of what lego does as a whole. If they mention anything at all today, It’ll probably just be an announcement made along with any others. There’s no way it’ll be the focus of their Panel.

yeah, you’re probably right. I’m just really excited

I think that they will either give a small teaser, such as an image of the Hau or the BIONICLE logo, or opt to not state anything at all. Alot of people pointed out that LEGO will have a presence at NYCC later this year, and it seems they may want to wait till then. Especially if the line is out in the fall; revealing it this early gives bootlegers time to copy the products long before they will hit shelves. But a logo reveal wouldn’t hurt, and at least would silence any lingering doubts of its legitimacy.

@Matoro Yeah I’m excited to. I even dreamed about Bionicles last night. :stuck_out_tongue:

@Starparu That’s a good point about the names. Also if this really is a reboot, Then we should look at past reboots for some clarity. Lego always keeps the core tenants of what worked in the theme before, but updates it for a new audience. Like Ninjas>Ninjago, Rock Raiders>Power Miners. Maybe this will be the same thing, but like you said, certain aspects of Bionicle are simply too iconic to get rid of, hence the names.

Also do you guys think the new sets will have combiners(not sure of the official name) to combine multiple sets into larger ones like before, and like before have parts in the story?

well they did it in hero factory so they might do it for this. I bet it would be the defenders who combine

The spiders could all combine to make a larger spider giving them an extra function and it’d be cool too.

Thinking about it it’d probably look like a giant centipede… Lord of skull centipedes doesn’t sound as me menacing and it’d just be silly.
