BIONICLE 2016 Discussion Topic

Just a question, can I make a 2017 speculation discussion?

Well, due to your recent posts in this topic, you’ll have to be suspended for 24 hours. I’ll go ahead and create it for you though. It seems like there’s a good amount of interest in it.

Given the jargon used on the LEGO Shop site, I think the Toa weren’t able to unite prior to the upgrade. The term “Unity Piece” indicates to me that that bit of armor is necessary for the unification. I know it’s a set term, but it’s the only real explanation we have on it…

I just got Uxar and it seems that his wings have no friction whatsoever, is that normal?

Ok thanks

True - as you’ve mentioned its likely that the new armour designed by Ekimu enables them to unite…

However, then we have Umarak who also has the exact same piece and while granted they could use the excuse that he’s using shadow powers to combine with the creatures, instead it appears that he also has the piece of unity. So does this imply that the Unity piece is actually something that they can be born/built/whatever with? Or did Makuta make him one? or is it just some aspect of the set that they didn’t really think about and just added to give an extra function of combining with the creatures?

As TKRooster said, the wings on the set don’t have as much friction as they should probably have. The idea of this is likely so that they can fold back against the creature, however with the sword pieces being unable to fold back it makes it more awkward. I’d honestly suggest trying to mod the set with additional friction and potentially more poseability in the wings, especially if you want to replicate poses seen in the show.

It would be like LoMN where Teridax use Nidhiki and Krekka to create a new body. Makuta’s body would similar to UtD with the MoCr or the MoT, but in Summer 2017 he would get an ultimate form with the MoUP.

They need thicker CCBS bones at this stage, the arms and legs look so spindly compare to the massive body. Its like someone looked at this ‘how to draw; the incredibly hulk’ and then stopped after the first slide and thought they were done…

Remember a lot of Umarak The Hunter’s pieces were kind of wasted such as the construction of the horns, the spare ammo for the stud shooter and the bow weapon. I’d guess that Umarak himself (even if we count the horns) is probably around 140 pieces with the rest being his weapons/ammo.

Meanwhile Umarak the Destroyer has all the pieces for his body, his weapons are part of him (in terms of his hands) As such i can understand how its an upgrade even though its only 19 more pieces than his previous form. Though i still hate the sticker on Umarak the Destroyer, the design for me doesn’t work well and the fact we have a sticker on the first true titan set makes me concerned for what will happen with the Makuta set we’ll likely get in 2017.

In addition they really should have kept the idea of the mouth, if anything the mutation should have caused the mouth to become alive as many theorised should have been the situation with Umarak’s chest piece;

Technically all the Toa are forgetful given they all have amnesia

Yeah, this doesn’t really work with Pohatu… though i suppose they may be setting things up so Pohatu becomes the main Toa in media given the idea of him getting over his phobia of Scorpions in JTO and now potentially getting over his fear of the dark to battle against Makuta who is a shadowy being and now has Umarak’s mask of shadows

I’d rather that 2016 have Makuta’s 2017 form revealed at the end - rather than us getting some sort of LoMN style situation as you described. I feel LoMN took that route primarily because we had already seen Makuta in one form and seeing him that way again would have likely weakened the effect, so they gave us a different form with wings.

2016 At least Journey to One seems to be building up the idea of Makuta and as such when he finally appears in a ‘big bad’ form - people are going to associate it with him. I don’t particularly mind the idea of Makuta possessing Umarak The Destroyer at some stage, perhaps to get personal revenge against Ekimu, however I’d like the first set we get of G2 Makuta to be either his protector-sized form or a massive titan-sized version wearing the MoUP.

I don’t think the bottom one is a mouth. Look, It just stops past the teeth.

So Summer Sets are going to be released earlier this year? I wonder if they’re still coming in Italy in September or July/August :o

Pretty much, though with the mouth higher up on the body. It just looks more creepy and disturbing that way. Two mouths also help to demonstrate the beast-like nature of just being hungry and predatory.

I always viewed it as ‘anything that is inside Venom is slowly devoured’. The mouth would swallow or bite you, holding you there until devoured by the symbiote. Kind of like a Venus flytrap :stuck_out_tongue:

It has a mouth, and what appears to be additional teeth on the sides of that mouth. It was likely some creature that Umarak killed, though given Umarak is getting mutated into his Destroyer form, i like the idea that it could mutate the dead creature that Umarak is wearing - causing it to merge with him and become alive. Just gives an additional aspect to the whole beast-like nature. It would have also helped with the resemblances between his Hunter and Destroyer forms.

Or it is his own mouth, seeing as he is basically an Elemental Creature himself. I’d also say the pelt and antlers are his own.

Perhaps Umarak was originally entirely deer, and over time shape shifted to a humanoid to become a better hunter.

It makes sense for UtD to lose the mouth because the MoCo is making him more mask-wearing humanoid and less Elemental Creature.
