BIONICLE 2016 Discussion Topic

In the Battle of the Mask Makers Makuta’s colors didn’t change when he put on the MoUP, and they fought in the Capital City of Okoto.

I guess, just kind of hoped they would try and at least keep some form of continuity with the original.

Also, if his colours don’t change when we get to set form… well, it would be very disappointing given how gold is over-used in CCBS.

Kind of offtopic but does anyone know where this is from? It has the same style as the other concept art released but I haven’t seen anyone talk about it, IF it is official atleast.

High Level of Canon
The official story with some minor inconsistencies

  • Journey to One
  • Bionicle chapter books
  • Bionicle graphic novels
  • The 2015 animations

Low to No Level of Canon -
May contain canon story details but also major noncanon details

  • Website info - Debatable
  • Bionicle Mask of Creation game
  • Bionicle Mask of Control game
  • Product descriptions
  • Lego magazine
  • Box comics
  • Commercials
  • Designer videos

I think that’s pretty much everything

Even within the high level of canon there are some inconsistencies like the change of the mask of control’s design, The battle of brothers happening in the middle of nowhere vs in the city, and the endings of the books.

Changing the color of the MOUP would be fine given these other inconsistencies within canon.

I’m fine with the colour changing, i expect it either to be black or gold - but i expect they’ll probably find a way to do both. Probably have it be gold when not worn (Or when broken) and black when worn or put together - or something like. Seems the only way to explain it if the piece we saw is indeed for the MoUP - otherwise we’d be getting inconsistencies in the span of an episode or two of JTO.

As a side note, i wonder if we’ll get an explanation for Ekimu’s falcon or he’ll just show up randomly…

What interests me in that video is the futuristic city in the background. Also one of the pillars says Pohatu on it. But the futuristic city is very intriguing, especially if that is the battle of the mask makers.

are you one of the people who have still not read or bought the BotMM Graphic novel.

that city is the former capital of the old okotoan civilazation, destroyed by the cataclysm that alterd the enviorment of Okoto’s six regions.

So…to bring up something new that I observed…

The doors Ekimu’s coming out of have the same designs as his sarcophagus…I wonder what this place might be. It’s been implied that Ekimu makes his new armor, which to me indicates the Forge, but this seems more like some sort of magic room that gives him better armor. What do you guys think?

Also, MoUP is awesomesauce…

I’m not the only one that seems the similarities between the MoUP and the Skull Spider masks right? I mean, it looks like a Skull Spider with some pointy bits… Where the legs… Should be… Huh.
Also, could someone do a side-by-side of the MoUP and a Skull Spider mask for me (as my PC is broken) please? Thanks.

well first of all…

IMGOINGTOBETHEFIRSTONETONAMEIT!!!

I name thee… THE CRYSTAL ROOM OF CREATION.

anyway, i don’t know what the room is, but it might be the room where in the crystals that probably was used in forging the MoCr might have originated from, which would explain why Ekimu would probably become more powerful if he walked into that room again, because of all the energy most likely would increase his mask’s power to allow him to create the hammer, the shield and the armor.

I just finished reading Escape from the Underworld, and I loved it. It was a great way to end this book serie (and give an even better look at some interesting things, like the origin of some skull creatures, and a good reason why the Toa need a new armor for 2016).

It’s by far the best from the serie, can’t wait to make some MOCs and drawings of the new characters.

Does anyone else notice how big Ekimu’s Falcon is.

Not sure how good I am at drawing but I decided to try it anyway. The center of the mask is least detailed do to the shadow effect on it. I hope somehow this helps you guys.

I think there are a couple of prongs on the side of the main vertical one too, you can see them in one of the pics when the mask is flying off of Makuta’s face.

Yeah, I’ll try and put them in it’s just you can’t really see them from the front there kinda slicked back.

EDIT:

There, fixed

I must say, I really like the design for the MoUP. It’s got six prongs, and then they become one at the top. Kinda symbolic, and I enjoy that.

I uh find this mask as presented in the video rather underwhelming. mainly because the eyes aren’t evil looking at all.

I don’t think we are going to get a protector sized makuta

Speculation about the Ekimu video: Since Ekimu’s in his Maskmaker form when battling Makuta, I would speculate that this is a flashback from the Battle of the Maskmakers.
