HowTo: MOC Tutorials

We have someone who has already made a great example thats been through a few iterations
wait that was THREE years ago? Where did time go…

Any ideas for a larger (but not too large) hand that uses Hordika necks for fingers? I’ve tried Axonn’s hand design (pictured below), though that one is slightly too big in this case.

I don’t have any pieces to hand, but DrScorpionX on Youtube did a pretty good one with a light gray gear. I don’t know if there’s much size difference, but from what i can tell, it does look a lot sleeker than Axonn’s hand. Here’s a couple of hastily-taken screenshots:

Is that any good?

Came up with this slightly altered version (no gear), that certainly does the job for now. Thanks!

On the earlier topic of thighs, here’s a moderately thick design I just came up with. Perhaps this is useful to somebody?

I need some help with a moc im working on. it has a vine like appearance and requires enough sturdiness to keep it from falling over from its own weight when one has it built in person.

can anyone help me with creating something to guarantee that it is sturdy when applied to a large lego plate?

@Gigamesh I found another way of using the deformed olmak head base, swapped some parts around and rebuilt a Plague doctor head/ mask. I was also using parts that were right there. Otherwise I plan on shrinking down the beak of the mask for a build I’m working on, and I thought I should take some break down photos of it before I do, incase anyone else wanted to try it out.

This is where that little grey part goes.

I hope you all enjoy  :+1:

hi. working on a moc and need some info on the 40 tooth gear and 8 tooth gear(parts 3649 and 10928). how full can the pin holes be to allow the gears to move

Don’t really understand what you mean with how full the pinholes can be, but the 40 tooth gear is able to spin freely even if there’s pins inside all of its pinholes. 8 tooth only has a single axle hole.

im asking is it possible to do this

and have the small gears still able to turn

It works with four, that’s all i could find, but i don’t see any reason it wouldn’t work with all 10. If you use blue pins the friction will be awful, but tan/grey pins will let it turn just fine.

Edit: yep, it works

For this tutorial I will demonstrate how to turn a knockoff 6091 “Slope, Curved 2 x 1 x 1 1/3 with Recessed Stud” into a 5841 and then a 7126 by cutting and filing.

You’ll need these supplies: a panavise, a hacksaw, a metal file, and a nail file. You’ll also want common disposable basic bricks and plates to build a jig out of. This jig is made of leftover tek blox from menards. The sets they came from are pretty bad so I have no problem destroying them.

First you build a jig and place it upside down in the vise.

You’ll want to bury the curved slope in like so with the bottom plate module sticking out.

Next you’ll make a rough cut. Saw the piece like this.

Take your nail file and rub until the piece is flush with the jig. Some plastic burs should come off.

This is what you’ll end up with.

Remove the surrounding plates.

You will end up with a 5841. Attach it to some plates to check for fit. This one looks good.

You may want to turn your new piece into a 7126. If so, remove the jig from the vise and flip it upside down so the studs face up. Put the 5841 on like this.

Bury it in bricks.

Cut some of the support plate off with the saw.

You’ll end up with this ugly mess.

File the rest of it off with your metal file and when you get close to tolerance use a nail file so you don’t go too far.

Remove the jig and take the piece out. Check the fit with a brick. This piece should work as a shaping element for mocs. 7126 and 5841 are currently available in limited colors so you can use this method to get the unreleased colors early.

hey. need some help with making some custom feet using ninjago tornados. they need to be upside down(so the 2x2 round peg hole is facing upward and where the mini figure would go is facing down), id do this myself but I dont have any on hand and the part isn’t on stud.io yet and was wondering if someone could help me with making something that can be used to essentially fill the space inside it so I can attach a plate at the bottom of it adding more to it if I wanted to(example I use jays tornado and add the cloud plates from the Mario and any lightning bricks to make it look like the individual who this could be for has storm clouds for legs with lightning going off) can anyone help me with this?
