While Jasax was a capable scientist (evidenced later by his work on Voporahk), he excelled the most in politics. Diplomacy, subtle manipulation, masked threats and playing out different factions against each other were second nature to him. It was not pure chance that he was assigned to Stelt, a land famous for perpetually standing at the very brink of civil war - a state he was not only able to maintain for many millennia, but which he actively turned towards the Brotherhood’s benefit.
Within a few years, Jasax managed to become the unofficial ruler of Stelt by establishing a political network which successfully played out Stelt’s leaders against each other while all of them sought for his support. This not only meant that the expected Steltian civil war never went beyond smaller streetfights, robberies and vandalism, but also that the Brotherhood profited from it. Heavily. He even at times had whole clans working for him (although not publically).
In person, Jasax was very calculating and a natural at reading his conversational partners (no doubt he benefitted from his Mind Reading ability, too). He knew exactly when and how he could play his trumps and when it was best to withdraw. The one thing he was not particularly fond of was violence - at least the form of violence that meant he had to get his own hands dirty. Muggings and assassinations on his behalf were not uncommon. Rarely, when he felt an example needed to be made, he was not beyond displaying just what a Makuta could do himself, however.
When Miserix visited Stelt in his search for Teridax, Jasax knew immediately that bending the knee was his only chance at living. If he had remained loyal for long is questionable, but unfortunately for him, Miserix was not in the mood for mercy. The former leader of the Brotherhood absorbed Jasax, ending the tale of the Makuta of Stelt.
So, that’s the next update complete. New head, addition of a collar, minor changes to the top of the torso under the cloak and the upper arms, new feet, new tools.
I think this is an improvement over the previous version. Particularly, while I did like the arm blade, that thing was just way too large. The torso could also be improved a bit more, I think, but most of it is covered by the cloak, so I didn’t see the necessity to invest time and parts right now.
By now this MOC also doesn’t really have much to do anymore with the original by @RedHuna101(the pictures of which are unfortunately lost) beyond the slightly modified name, the colour scheme, the use of a Chirox blade as a tool/weapon and the choice of mask power. From what I recall, the original had digitigrate legs, a hunchback and a tail.
This here is also one of the earlier cloaks I made, so potentially one day I might sew a new one as well (you can probably tell that it’s not falling very nicely in a few places).
Next I’ll focus on Mangiru, I think, and as far as updates to already revamped Makuta go, I think I’ll definitely grab Isthra and maybe Vulon next.
