Mecn, Endo, and Bumoru

Here are three connected mocs, Mecn, Endo, and Bumoru.

Species: Robot
Element: None
Kanohi: Enkhi, Legendary Mask of Knowledge
Weapon(s): Great Warhammer
Abilities: As an AI, he can inhabit any empty robotic body that he can connect to; Randomly knows things that he shouldn’t (though he has little control over it)
Affiliation(s): Hunters’ Guild

Mecn was the first ever AI that Nuparu made for the Vahki. Unfortunately, he was far too forgiving and friendly with the Matoran (not great for police robots), so Turaga Dume had Nuparu scrap Mecn and make a new AI. Nuparu, not wanting to kill his creation, left a single copy of Mecn’s AI on a half-dismantled Vahki drone headed for the scrapyard.

Mecn would wait in that scrapyard for who knows how long, until one day, a stranger arrived. His name was Bumoru, and he was a legendary craftsman possibly greater than Artakha himself. His mere presence caused all the robots in the scrapyard to activate, all calling out to him to save them. He only picked one, though: Mecn.

He brought Mecn back to his workshop and constructed him a new body. Bumoru taught Mecn how to live, and in return, Mecn was like the son the craftsman never had.

Unfortunately, something unknown happened to Bumoru, something that Mecn does not like talking about. As a parting gift, the builder gave Mecn a mask: the Legendary Kanohi Enkhi, Mask of Knowledge. Not that Mecn knew how to use it, though. After Bumoru’s disappearance, Mecn went out on his own, eventually stumbling across a place offering him a job. He took it without thinking twice. Turns out, it was a bounty hunting gig, and Mecn wasn’t half bad. He’s been with the Hunter’s Guild ever since.

During his time with the Guild on Spherus Magna, he met a number of others, including Rho, a fellow engineer called Salvage, and a thief called Kanii. While Kanii was imprisoned for trying to steal some Kanohi from the Guild’s archives, he taught Mecn how to use his mask. The robot isn’t great at it, nor can he use it on command, but now it’s able to “whisper” bits of information to him that he’d never be able to know otherwise.

(Here’s a better look at his favorite weapon/tool, his hammer)

Species: Robot
Element: None
Kanohi: None
Weapon(s): Dual Plasmablade
Abilities: As an AI, he can inhabit any empty robotic body that he can connect to
Affiliation(s): Dark Hunters; Armageddon (formerly)

Endo was Nuparu’s second attempt at making the Vahki AI. His first turned out far too lenient, but in trying to fix that, he overcompensated. Where Mecn was kind, Endo was harsh. Where Mecn let guilty Matoran go free, Endo would punish even innocent Matoran. Needless to say, Dume did not like that either, and ordered Nuparu to scrap that AI as well. A single copy of Endo’s AI was installed into a Vahki skeleton that was shipped off to a scrapyard.

There it would rust for thousands of years, until one day a scrapper by the name of Bumoru arrived. His mere presence caused all the dismantled, powerless robots and machines to spring to life. Endo tried to call out to him, but he didn’t hear. Instead, he recovered a different Vahki and left. That Vahki contained the AI of Mecn. As Bumoru left, and the machines began to turn back off, that feeling of rejection was seared into Endo’s mind.

It was really a stroke of luck that Endo ever saw the light of day again. During the Reign of Shadows, there was a lightning storm above Metru Nui, probably thanks to Teridax. A bolt struck Endo’s body, reviving him. He built himself a new body out of the corpses of his brethren and walked out into the world. He knew his primary objective (“protect” the Matoran), and now he had a secondary one (destroy Mecn). The only question was, how would he achieve his goals?

Over the coming years, Endo began amassing an army. After all, he’d need one in order to take over the world. Unfortunately, someone figured out what he was doing and put a bounty on his head. Of all people, Mecn came to collect - and he did. The knightly robot beat Endo and his fledgeling army. Endo’s body was destroyed, but he had backups.

During a warmonger called Armageddon’s attack on the Guild and the mercenary group the Fallen Sun, Endo was recruited to get inside the Guild base. He was given his own small army of drones to command, his first real taste of power. And it, of course, was short lived. He narrowly escaped, in part due to Mecn letting him go, but his army was destroyed and Armageddon was killed.

Ever since, Endo has been roaming the planet as a worker for hire. He primarily works with the Dark Hunters, though he’s not officially a part of their ranks. He has a plan to assemble a new army, but to do that, he needs money. And, if he can kill a few people along the way, why not?

Lastly, we have Bumoru.

Species: Great Being
Element: None
Kanohi: Indomau, Great Mask of Biomechanics
Weapon(s): None
Abilities: Extreme creative ability; Can activate or deactivate Kanohi without being in contact with them; Robotic constructs “come to life” in his presence; Control over mechanical constructs

Bumoru was once a Great Being. He was a skilled mechanic, coder, and forger, and was integral in designing Matoran, their minds, and Great Kanohi masks. It was he who forged the Mask of Creation and the first Olmak. Thanks to his work, it was possible for Velika to become a Matoran. Bumoru decided to do the same, creating a new body for himself and stowing away in the Great Spirit Robot just before it took off.

Bumoru lived as a hermit/scrapper in the GSR for a while before he felt fate calling him to Metru Nui. He found a half-built Vahki in a scrapyard there, which contained Mecn’s consciousness. As the story goes, he took that Vahki, built Mecn a new body, and taught him how to be an individual.

The builder’s health was deteriorating though, and soon he would disappear. Some say he died, some say he just left. Only Mecn knows the truth, and he does not share. Whatever the case, before his disappearance, he gave Mecn something he had been working on for a while: the Kanohi Enkhi, Legendary Mask of Knowledge.

(Also fun fact, Bumoru was originally female many thousands of years ago. Trans icon!)

I’m a big fan of Bumoru. Cool colors, clean build, nice mask, interesting backstory. All you really need for a good Bio MOC.
