My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

well yeah, I just think the series has to pay it’s due and just end.

From what I can tell, it will in like one or two seasons, based on the Generation 5 leaks.

I don’t think Hasbro gets that people aren’t really gonna get hyped for this franchise anymore, g5 is gonna come out and it will under preform dramatically from their pov.

Eh, I don’t know, I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

I don’t think it will have that big boom in viewership like Friendship is Magic did, nor the commotion around it, though. I think it’ll pretty much just be the current viewership of FiM switching over to see Gen5, with some dropping out and a few joining in. I really hope it does well, but only time will tell.

but do you really think this franchise is worth it?

It’s more worth it than hoping it doesn’t. Most any franchise is worth hoping it does well, especially ones that have been going on this long.

Plus, Hasbro’s never going to get rid of MLP, so it’s better to hope the new generation succeeds than it ending up going from failed reboot to failed reboot. Ending with a bang rather than a whimper, y’know?

Moving this here so things don’t go too far off topic

Trixie is both great and powerful. She is easily best pony. Starlight is great, but that’s largely because she got Trixie more screen time.

this is just a known fact, not even an opinion

Preach brother. Exactly my thoughts when I watched the show in 2013. That being said, the episode where Pinkie clones herself is one of my favourites simply because of the G1 reference “hey look at this” (nek minute really ugly horse face) Plus it was satisfying seeing the Pinkies get vaporised multiple times over.

Yeah, that’s a pattern I noticed where each season they’d switch between redeeming or kill-I mean, destroying the villain.

Why did I quote a long inactive user? Who knows.

Discord is the best character guys, obviously. That being said I remember Dash and Fluttershy being my favourites of the mane four I think. The episode where Fluttershy gets a deep voice again and sings backstage for Applejack’s brother who lost his voice in a turkey call game (Man that’s a mouthfull!) has my favourite song, simply because it’s one I could sing along to with my deep voice. Also, the episode where Rainbow Dash chooses a pet Turtle-No Tortoise! is a favourite. Although I also remember liking Luna just from an aesthetic point of view and because I was hoping they’d give her a more nuanced episode focused on trying to be ‘good’ but I cannot remember if that happened or not.

Reading up through the comments I am at peace with where I left off watching the show, I’m glad I did watch it, but I don’t think I’ll ever regain interest. Especially knowing that the fandom is toxic cesspool. Annnddd that concludes me voicing some thoughts on MLP, that’s a weight off my chest :stuck_out_tongue:

Of course Trixie has become something of a trans icon, so maybe I’m a smidge biased.

Though in all seriousness I do love her character. Every time she appears from No Second Prances onward she is an absolute delight. And her friendship with Starlight is probably one of my favorite parts of the later seasons.

My cousin once sat me down to start watching this, he told me it’s right up my alley and I’d love it

I don’t think my cousin knew me very well because I did not enjoy it

Although, I’m reading here that the first episode was kinda lousy so maybe that fed into my disatisfaction

The first episode (or episodes cause 2 parter, if you wanna be pedantic) definitely isn’t representative of the show’s overall quality to be honest. Personally I definitely like season one. I started watching the show since the beginning, and I’ve loved it from start to finish.

But I do feel like the show really hit its stride in season four and onward.

Okay, not gonna lie, I actually don’t like Trixie very much and found her continued appearances in later seasons pretty annoying. (Granted, I found the last two seasons in particular quite weak overall.) I wanted Starlight to get more screentime both alone and with other characters besides Trixie, but she kinda got shafted, in my mind. Though to be fair I haven’t watched an episode of the show in well over a year, probably two or more, so my opinions on this subject probably hold less weight. =P

Okay, I hear you. I see where you’re coming from. But my counter argument. How could you possibly be mad at this face?

I’m really just surprised that you didn’t create this topic.

I’m surprised it was dead for four years for as frequently as MLP comes up in conversation around here

That is peculiar isn’t it? I suppose for as often as it’s mentioned, it’s most often briefly or in passing. Not heavily enough to warrant in depth discussion. Not until now anyway.
