The Verdant Paladin whips around to see what he’s stumbled upon.

There is nothing that seems to have thrown it at you.

It’s difficult to try and hit the Gore without hitting Iosif, and it’s moving away all the time.

The creature is like the Gores below, but at least twice as big. It lays on its side. It’s body is grotesquely boated, it’s a sickly green. Instead of the two legs and two claws at the wingtips, it has six fleshy appendages, ending in thin, blackened spikes that reach out at least 3 feet.

Callen is getting angry and begins climbing the structures to try and close the distance so he could get to the Gore that had Iosif and keep other Gores off of himself.

Hesitantly Kanei restarts his sprint towards Callen.

The Gore holding Iosif seems to register this, veering away from any structures to prevent Callen from reaching. Where it was going was unknown, but it climbed higher and higher.

Iosif stopped screaming at this point and was too preoccupied pressing his hands into his face so hard it was likely to leave an impression to have given Callen any assistance.

Callen was relentless in his pursuit of the creature as he moved with great speed to try and close the gap, his sword and daggers striking at Gores that got in his way with every intent to kill the foul beasts.

Depending on how dark it has now become without their walking sun, Hereward quickly retrieves his sunstone. He holds it up almost like a torch in his left hand to better see, but keeps his arm closer to his body so that the monsters can’t easily grapple him. As stated before, he heads towards the nearest person to help them combat the Gores.

If it is more evident that it is his unit that could use the help, he moves into formation with them. Otherwise, he tries to push forward and help the men in front. Though unless the Gores are lowered themselves for easy stab shots in the eyes, Hereward attempts to slash their limbs or guts with his scythe sword.

For now, all Hereward can do is focus on surviving and taking the battle one monster at a time. Small advances, anything else would be suicide. There were other men that could help the caged freak. He was also with the representatives, at least one of which was a good warrior. Surely he was in decent hands. If not…just more bookworm incompetence.

The Verdant Paladin charges the grotesque creature, but he gives no battle cry, no sounds of battle. There is no scuffing of boots or shoes for he does not wear any. There is only a silent charge. If the creature is not aware of his presence (which is doubtful) it soon will be. Once he gets close enough, he slashed at the creatures head with one axe and fends of any attacks with the other.

The Gore carrying Iosif is smaller, and struggles to move upwards. Instead, most of its movement remains on the same plane of height, Iosif’s feet dangling 6 or 7 feet above the ground.

In your mad dash, you see Representative Castele cowering, Representative Vaughn shouting something and pointing at Iosif, and Representative Scane fumbling with a pile of toppled crates.

You’re able to get some hits in on Gores that come nearby, but you and them are moving too fast to significantly damage many.

You stumble, and have to catch yourself against somone - The Alliance Representative. She shouts something at you and points at the floor, but you can’t hear above the shouting and high-pitched whoops of the Gores. But you see what she is pointing at, and it barely registers. Crossbow quarrels, and a strange object in her hand. Reminiscent of a crossbow, but smaller, and with a strange tubular apparatus attached to the side.

Your Sunstone is dimmer than it was when you first took it, but it is bright enough to have an immediate effect - the Gores shy away, seeming to avoid coming near you.

You see Holland, his hammer discarded, on his back, stabbing with a long knife at the Gore that has him pinned to the ground.

The creature sees you, but its body is too large for it to heave itself out of the way in time for your first strike. Your weapon sinks deep into greenish flesh, and the Gore - if it can be called that - screams.

You barely hear it. Its spiked limbs go rigid, all six extending towards you, and you have to dodge backwards to avoid being impaled.

Callen grabs the device and tries to see how it works.

OOC: gun, fancy crossbow or flamethrower?

In the split second you have, this is what is registers as, with a small groove where a quarrel would fit.

Kanei scoffs, stupid, all of them. he thinks as he continues running towards Callen, he readies his Grappling hook as soon as he can get close enough he’s going knock that oversized pig out of the sky.

Callen smiles and grabs the weapon and loads it, “Time for some target practice.” He says as he takes aim and starts letting the bolts fly at the monsters to try and clear two paths: one for the representative to rejoin the others and one for Callen to continue his pursuit. (He is shooting to kill, of course)

The Verdant Paladin takes a swing at the appendages with his axes. He attacks them one after another as fast as he can.

Hereward mutters something and goes to help Holland. He moves as quickly as the battlefield would allow him, but slow enough as to not trip on potential bodies or smacked by incoming creatures. Once he’s in attacking range, he thrusts the sword forward and gives an upward swing, attempting to slice through the Gore’s throat. As the scythe sword’s sharp edge is on the inside, the motion is almost like snagging the beast with a hook.

Provided the monster is low enough and there’s enough clearance between it and Holland. Otherwise a simply stab into the side of its throat or head will do.

How do you attempt to accomplish this?

It takes a couple seconds to load it, placing a quarrel in the groove and pulling back the cranequin to prime the weapon. Representative Scane seems to understand, and draws two short swords to defend you.

Once it is loaded, you barely have time to react as a Gore swipes down at you. At point blank range, you can’t miss, firing up into its chest and neck. It doesn’t scream, but you hear it hit the ground behind you.

You reload.

The appendages remind you of thorns, clacking against your axe blades and keeping you from getting too close to the creature. It otherwise seems unable to move, however. It lets out a nearly imperceptible scream again.

You are able to plunge your weapon into the creature’s neck, killing it almost instantly.

“With me!” Callen yells to Scane as he tries to make his way to Iosif and the Gore carrying him, trying to keep Gores off himself and Scane while trying to shoot down the target Gore without risking Iosif’s safety.

The Verdant Paladin throws one of his axes at the creatures hideous head, mostly as a distraction but still with the intent to hit. The axe glances off the creatures head, creating another cut, but not a very deep on. He fends of another blow from the appendages while he opens his seed pouch and grabs another seed. He starts his chant, this one quickened and not as precise as the last. The vines start to grow in his palm, and as he finishes the chant hoe throws the seed, just has he gets struck on the side of the head by one of the appendages. The strike knocks him off balance and he falls from the ledge, unable to see how effective his spell is.

OOC: the spell is meant to entangle the creature. I hope my battle isn’t to “win more” so to speak.

Ooc: By impaling it with the grappling hook and pulling out of the sky.

“We need to get Iosif to safety!” Callen says, “without hurting him.”

(Presume he is still trying to fend off Gores)
