What, you though Ghid was using improper capitalization this whole time?
brain is no bueno
Iosif.
donât put it past me
oooooookay something I need to address before it gets past the point of addressing
This is fine as bluster and babble, but legitimately your signup for Kanei has zero mention of Iosif or coming along for maintenance purposes. Itâs fine if he thinks that after he gets there, but that canât be used as the legitimate reason. Thatâs⌠Well, inserting-another-characterâs-backstory-into-your-backstory-which-you-couldnât-have-planned-because-both-characters-were-pending-at-the-same-time, which I donât know if that has a name.
(the boards censored that, lol)
also is Kanei just really dumb and offering - no, forcing - Iosif to stand after heâs already specifically standing or did you just miss it twice
donât worry man thatâs just what Kanei believes, Heâs not an engineer. heâs a blacksmith it makes no logical sense for that to be why heâs there, though maybe heâs reasons it that way because he can forge replacement parts for Iosif, but all in all thatâs not the reason heâs there.
both.
I like to imbue all of my characters with aspects of my personality it makes them easier to write. /hj
again i say
that was not a joke, he deep down feels that people are out to get him, this leads him to make assumptions, no matter how insane they might seem.
(in hindsight I should add that to his bio.)
if youâre going to, ping winger and let him reapprove of the bio.
Hey, just curious, how does everyone pronounce their characterâs names?
THAY-er (Care)Ektorâs nayms
I will now accept my third lifetime comedy award
Iosif (Ee-OH-siph) Tolomei (TOLL-oh-may)
That doesnât help me.
Thanks @Ghid !
Ka Nay
Kah? Kay? Keh? Kaa?
Yea
Luckily for me, Iâve taken the names out of Old English so they already have pronunciation keysâŚAnd it turns out Iâve been saying Hereward wrong compared to both American and British versions, so I guess itâs not that easy. I guess that was bound to happen given its pretty much the same name as Harvard.
Hereward (heh¡ruh¡wrd) Cempar (kem¡par)
How I been saying Hereward was the two sections apart, âHereâ and âWard.â Meaning itâs more like heer¡wawd or heer¡word; âwardâ being pronounced like âWar,â just with a âdâ attached. So âarâ either sounds like a strong âaâ or more like âor.â
Now Cempar is from the Old English word cempa, from which we later get the Middle English surname Kemp. The normal pronunciation is kem¡pa, but I added an ârâ to the end so that the name would sound harder, a bit more manly. Just cempa sounds more like one calling for papa than a warrior to my ears.
And if youâve been saying the âcâ like an âsâ instead, resulting in simp¡ar, I canât blame you, I even catch myself switching between using a soft âsâ and the hard âk.â I had considered using the spelling Kempar instead of Cempar, but I thought the âCâ was more visually appealing and made its etymology butchering more obvious.
AHEMWELL
Well, here goes:
Character Sheet
Name: Callen (Cal for short)
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Appearance - tall, strong and has some scruff on his face. Dark hair, striking blue eyes.
Faction - Unaffiliated.
Equipment - Standard fare for a merc: sword, a couple daggers, some odds and ends, a shield, a set of armor. Maybe some ammunition for stuff like slings and crossbows? Heâs got some tools for scavenging: toolkit, a couple mechanicâs tools and a pack to store his loot in and one for his personal belongings which he keeps locked tight.
Biography -A scavenger and mercenary by trade who has seen his fair share of scraps but he knows how to fight. He knows that the old saying of âone manâs trash is another manâs treasureâ is very true in the black market and the ruined city is a great place for loot. Calâs main concerns are surviving, adventuring and getting money in his pocket.
Dark Secrets - I think River Song and The Doctor said it best: Spoilers.
Artifacts - Not much, maybe a few trinkets but heâs planning to sell those.
Approved.
so I donât think thatâs gonna fly with-
I-
hm
He has no plans on using them. Why risk breaking the merchandise?
weâre around the middle of the procession, not the front.
Oh, i thought it was the front, my bad
Edit: better?
