This is fine as bluster and babble, but legitimately your signup for Kanei has zero mention of Iosif or coming along for maintenance purposes. It’s fine if he thinks that after he gets there, but that can’t be used as the legitimate reason. That’s… Well, inserting-another-character’s-backstory-into-your-backstory-which-you-couldn’t-have-planned-because-both-characters-were-pending-at-the-same-time, which I don’t know if that has a name.

also is Kanei just really dumb and offering - no, forcing - Iosif to stand after he’s already specifically standing or did you just miss it twice

don’t worry man that’s just what Kanei believes, He’s not an engineer. he’s a blacksmith it makes no logical sense for that to be why he’s there, though maybe he’s reasons it that way because he can forge replacement parts for Iosif, but all in all that’s not the reason he’s there.

I like to imbue all of my characters with aspects of my personality it makes them easier to write. /hj

again i say

that was not a joke, he deep down feels that people are out to get him, this leads him to make assumptions, no matter how insane they might seem.

Luckily for me, I’ve taken the names out of Old English so they already have pronunciation keys…And it turns out I’ve been saying Hereward wrong compared to both American and British versions, so I guess it’s not that easy. I guess that was bound to happen given its pretty much the same name as Harvard.

Hereward (heh¡ruh¡wrd) Cempar (kem¡par)

How I been saying Hereward was the two sections apart, “Here” and “Ward.” Meaning it’s more like heer·wawd or heer·word; “ward” being pronounced like “War,” just with a “d” attached. So “ar” either sounds like a strong “a” or more like “or.”

Now Cempar is from the Old English word cempa, from which we later get the Middle English surname Kemp. The normal pronunciation is kem·pa, but I added an “r” to the end so that the name would sound harder, a bit more manly. Just cempa sounds more like one calling for papa than a warrior to my ears.

And if you’ve been saying the “c” like an “s” instead, resulting in simp·ar, I can’t blame you, I even catch myself switching between using a soft “s” and the hard “k.” I had considered using the spelling Kempar instead of Cempar, but I thought the “C” was more visually appealing and made its etymology butchering more obvious.

Well, here goes:

Character Sheet

Name: Callen (Cal for short)

Age: 35

Gender: Male

Appearance - tall, strong and has some scruff on his face. Dark hair, striking blue eyes.

Faction - Unaffiliated.

Equipment - Standard fare for a merc: sword, a couple daggers, some odds and ends, a shield, a set of armor. Maybe some ammunition for stuff like slings and crossbows? He’s got some tools for scavenging: toolkit, a couple mechanic’s tools and a pack to store his loot in and one for his personal belongings which he keeps locked tight.

Biography -A scavenger and mercenary by trade who has seen his fair share of scraps but he knows how to fight. He knows that the old saying of “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” is very true in the black market and the ruined city is a great place for loot. Cal’s main concerns are surviving, adventuring and getting money in his pocket.

Dark Secrets - I think River Song and The Doctor said it best: Spoilers.

Artifacts - Not much, maybe a few trinkets but he’s planning to sell those.
