Star Wars Anthology Films (Minor Rogue One Spoilers)

Personally I don’t think it’s necessary, Legomaster.

Yeah but it should be obvious it’s during the original trilogy’s time period at least. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think most of the people asking those questions are either minimally aware of the Star Wars timeline or simply haven’t looked up the movie yet.

That or they’re trolls…

Still, it’s definitely a facepalm moment.

Yeah, but to be fair, there’s no well-established OT characters in that trailer.

That’s A-okay with me.

Alas, welcome to the Star Wars fandom.

Is it just me or are the Rogue One AT-ATs kinda… odd. They look skinnier and lankier then the walkers we see in ESB, ROTJ and even Battlefront.

Here’s a conventional AT-AT. It’s legs seem shorter and thicker.

Honestly, these new AT-ATs look more akin to the prototype incarnations we saw in Rebels S2:

**Does anyone else find something off about the Rogue One AT-ATs?

I dunno

I’m pretty sure a casual viewer can tell the difference between a Clone trooper, Stormtrooper, and it’s First Order variant.

They aren’t really characters, but they’re notable members of the Original Trilogy.

They’re probably supposed to look like the AT-ATs in Rebels, due to the fact that this is set closer to Rebels that ESB.

I kinda have to disagree with that. The dish being put into the first Death Star and Empire-era Stormtroopers SHOULD be enough to give people the idea that this is pre Episode IV. Keyword there being should. Even if I wasn’t completely obsessed with Star Wars and had only seen the films as a casual movie-goer, I feel like I would be able to figure out when this is set. Then again, I guess I’m wrong about this since there’s a bunch of confused people out there right now, lol

Well it’s been thirty years. They’re bound to redesign stuff.

They’re not stop-motion animated.

The amount of people I’ve seen look at rogue one and the first thing they say:

“What a pile of rubbish, where are the Bothans? I ain’t going to see this”

I mean really guys!!! That’s death star II. Sometimes I wonder whether they’re trolling. I answered back one guy and he argued Mon Mothma was there, like in RoTJ. facepalm

@Invader39 where are you getting 30 years from?!?! The empire only lasted 23 years and this film is set in its 18-19th year

@Apophyx there’ll just do suit the same as the original trilogy if he turns up, just add a wider range of mobility for obvious reasons

Oh right, still think it’s cos of it being based on rebels. Just because of the fact that they seem to be trying to recapture the feel of the original trilogy, quite well in fact. And it’s 40 years not 30 /s

And if it was due to redesigning stuff, I have a feeling that the stormtroopers would look a little different as well, not as different as TFA First Order Stormtroopers, but a few differences like the AT-ATs appear to have

This makes me wonder how much easier these older AT-ATs will be to trip over, they’ll be almost redundant.

What was going through the imperial designer’s and Palpatine’s mind?

Imperial designer
“I will make the best and most powerful land vehicles in the galaxy but give them stilt like legs otherwise it’s not a fair fight.”

Emperor Palpatine
looks at order 66 recording “I suppose it is time I play fair. Let’s do it!!!”

Darth Vader
shakes head

Palpatine
“I find your lack of faith disturbing”

Vader
“I might use that” says it and becomes famous for it

Palpatine
cries

(A few years later)

Imperial designer
“I don’t understand!!! How did my amazing walkers lose to teddy bears?!?!”

My thoughts on those people.

No I mean 30 years between films.

Haven’t any of your friends confused clones and stormtroopers? 'Cuz mine sure have. :stuck_out_tongue:

Rebels S2 and ESB seem to both be about 3 years from Rogue One. If anything, RO is likely closer to ESB.

More or less. Thing is, they’re jumping back into the Original Trilogy timeframe. If they have the same mentality DICE had with the Battlefront game, fidelity should be a top priority.

There’s a difference?

LOL, you’ve got a point. Though Ewoks didn’t destroy any of the AT-ATs on Endor. We actually don’t know what happened to them…

I meant periodically.
I would say June is closer than July, even though the two months are closer to each other.
I guess that isn’t how I worded it, but that’s what I meant.

I still don’t quite follow. ESB is established to take place 3 years after ANH. Rebels S2 takes place anywhere from 3-4 years before A New Hope/Rogue One.

So, say you’re building a moc. (Just stay with me here, it’ll make sense eventually). The first iteration will look one way. The next will look like the first, just modified. The third iteration and so on will look less and less like the original moc.
That’s how the AT-ATs are.
The Rebels ones are prototypes, the RO ones are slightly modified, and the ESB ones are very different.
Does that make more sense?

Oh, that’s what you mean. I understand. So yeah, it’s likely that the 3 pieces of media have three different models of AT-AT. I just wish we had confirmation on little world-building details like that…

Maybe they were released to the grasslands, to graze on the long grass.

(They were probably destroyed)

They had AT-STs there, they got tripped by logs etc. For an advanced civilisation, the star wars galaxy is very far behind in some departments. E.g. effective land vehicles, the clones had better vehicles because they had wheels (hey that rhymes  )

@legomaster1378 is it confirmed Rogue One occurs in 0BBY, it could occur in 1BBY, possibly. (Stupid date system, it shouldn’t be Before the Battle of Yavin, it should Before the Jedi Purge, BJP, or something to do with that. The Battle of Yavin was important but not enough to have the galactic calendar named after it)
