Transformers: Dawn of a New Age

Cargo

“Lady Axis Prime!” Cargo calls, resisting the urge to kneel. “What’s wrong? What happened here?”

“I don’t know yet. Zipline and Maximus just ran in to investigate. You can wait here until I know what’s going on.”
Axis replied, nearly shouting.

“Wait! It’s you!”
Nova shouted in surprise.
“Look, about earlier. I’m really sorry about-”

“Now isn’t the time for this! Are you here to help?”
Axis said, abruptly cutting her off.

“Y-yeah!”
Nova stammered out.

“Then consider yourself pardoned. You’ll stay with us for the time being. Now both of you give me a moment to think.”

@Chromeharpoon
Axis took a deep breath in, and tried to tap into the Matrix of Leadership. Trying to use it’s insight to learn all she could about what was happening.

“Of course he did!” growls Cargo. His fists clench.

Kitai follows suit, and only one question came from him: “How fast can you call the knights?”

Barrge heard this. Being the sort to leave important seeming things to other people, he elected to do nothing. Though, he did quite enjoy his drink, and it didn’t seem very strong, so he thought he’d have another. Conveniently, it seemed the owner of the establishment was fairly near to him talking to rubber legs. Barrage would attempt to wave him over whenever he was finished talking.

The small red bot points his rifle at Stonefist, glaring down its holographic sight at the rocky fellow.

“I said get down!” he snaps, shooting at Stonefist’s leg.

Roaster, Graves, and Niko would see residual fire and smoke on the rings around the Hall of Records’ central tower. A cybertronian attack helicopter is hovering over the scene, sweeping its weapons across the surrounding streets and walkways. Four spherical drones float along the perimeter of the ring with the helicopter, also armed.

There are at least twenty-five or thirty civilians huddled together in groups- some of them injured from the explosion earlier. Four bots stand apart from them, each one brandishing weapons. One- a red-armored bot, takes a shot at a transformer with jagged, rocky armor. The others point their weapons threateningly at the frightened civilians.

The human and the cybertronian stop- and the cybertronian seems to stifle a howl of laughter.

“‘Protecting history’,” he echoes mockingly. Then, he trains his rifle on Machina.

“You’re not doing anything other than what I tell you,” he says threateningly. “Now turn around and head outside.”

The rippling anomaly fades away as the sound of the engines grow quieter.

The nearest Knight of Cybertron happened to be an old friend- Ironclad, now High Councilor of his order, and apparently one of the few foreign dignitaries who haven’t yet left the city.

“Your guess is as good as mine,” he says, activating the personal computer on his wrist to try and gather more information.

Axis’s vision turns white as the Matrix does its work. She feels brief flashes of fear and anger, and hears gunfire echoing in the back of her mind.

“Nobody ‘calls’ the Knights, Kitai,” Headcase says. “They have a knack for showing up where they’re needed.”

It was obvious that, despite his apparent confidence in the Order’s abilities, the doctor was fearful.

“Nobody panic,” Maccadam says to those still in the tavern. “Whatever’s going on, I’m sure the authorities can handle it.”

“Hey!” Roaster calls out to it. “Do you have any idea–”

As the scene becomes more clear, Roaster slows down her approach. Her focus shifts from the unusual machine and fully on the Hall. By the time she comes near Ferrex, she freezes and a gunshot goes off.

Oh.

“I don’t think so.” Stonefist grumbles. “I think-”

Stonefist grunts loudly in pain, now thoroughly irritated with the annoying red bot. A couple of his leg servos were damaged, but nothing he couldn’t repair. Still, it hurt. In response, he transforms into his boulder alt mode and begins rolling right towards him, trusting his rocky outer shell to protect himself. Meanwhile, Aralysa, who is a bit more practical than Stonefist, transforms into her alt mode and begins crawling rapidly away from the building. She calls,
“I’ll meet up with you later!”

Snowblind shifts back to her robot mode as she approaches, letting the wheels in her heels carry her momentum. The goggles come down, quickly getting to work, cycling through different displays as it takes in the information.

She avoids the crowd out front, looking for a different way in. It looked like there were hostages - she needed to fix that.

Machina leans on her cane. So their enemies, plan B. She turns around and walks outside. It’s not that she couldn’t do anything, but she could only do it later. They want a hostage, so she’ll be the hostage.

Afterall, once the authorities show up, they’ll need to be close to guarantee this hostage won’t run. At that point, she might have them in checkmate. It’s her best option, running would net her getting gunned down, and given her age it was unlikely she’d make to far in her robot-mode. The last reason, is what was in that case. Either a weapon or it was for profit; either way given the place of origin… she wouldn’t let them take it too easily.

Argyros Asrar growled, and rushed into his building as his dragon-mode. Hoping to scare the assailants of such a crime. His entrance was different than most, as he aimed directly for where the explosion in, and would be accurately described as “crash landing.”

“What. In. The name of Primus was that?” Windstripe muttered after watching a dragon fly into the building. The cybertronian made his way into the building, and immediately activated his weapons. He walked through it cautiously.

Jade Dragon was already well inside and took to helping any civilians nearby evacuate the building. He saw as a cloaked figure walked it, ready for combat. Jade Dragon stared at him, for a moment before calling out, “Friend or foe?”

The cloaked cybertronian looked at him and smiled, “I’m hoping friend, the name is Win-”

“I don’t need to know. Let’s focus on getting the civilians out of here.” Jade Dragon replied.

Windstripe nodded. Nice! Good to have an ally here.

“Gunfire!”
Axis shouted.
“It’s an attack, and they’ve likely taken hostages. Cargo, Ironclad, human, you’re all with me. We need to move quickly. Maximus and Zipline will need backup.”

“This is easily the stupidest thing I’ve ever done.”
Nova said to herself as she loaded her sidearm and put her pilot helmet back on. By some miracle she was able to easily fit all her hair within it.

“What are you doing? Do you intend to fight without your machine?”
Axis asked in a confused tone.

“Are you kidding me? Your boyfriend punched Gungir’s head off remember? She’s blinded. It would be suicide to try and fight with her in this condition. I’m better off on foot.”
Nova replied.

“As much as your courage is appreciated, this isn’t a situation a human like yourself can handle. If your machine can’t fight, then you had best stay behind.”

“Listen here feathers! I got years of combat training under my belt, so I’m more than capable of handling myself. I’m not doing this cause I think it’ll be fun. So do you want my help or not?”
Nova snapped.

“Primus above.”
Axis grumbled.
“Fine. But you’ll have to look out for yourself. And try not to get under foot.”

“Alright then! Let’s get going!”
Nova said. Using her grappling hook she zipped up to Cargo’s shoulder, perching on top of it.

With that Axis made her way into the building, expecting the others to follow.

Niko aimed Ferrex’s hip guns at the thugs pointing weapons at civilians.

“Hey! How about you thugs back off before I make you!”
Niko shouted through the mech’s speakers, showing an astonishing lack of common sense.

The red bot yelps and jumps out of Stonefist’s path- behind him was a metal fixture supporting a techno-organic fern.

Meanwhile, one of the hovering drones targets Aralysa as she tries to escape, shooting at her with a laser weapon mounted on its underside.

The green-armored bot and his human partner escort Machina outside. He rolls his eyes as he watches his red compatriot struggle to get a handle on another hostage, and then approaches the drone commander while presenting the black case.

“I got it!” he says triumphantly. The commander responds with only a curt nod, then places a finger to the side of his head, activating his commlink.

“Double-Take, we have it,” he says. “Get your skidplates over here- spawn of a glitch!”

Asrar, Windstripe, Axis and Jade Dragon wouldn’t be able to get close to the central tower before they are set upon by the helicopter-bot. The chopper spits a hail of machine gun fire at the approaching four, following it up with a salvo of missiles.

The terrorists had gathered themselves and their hostages before the main entrance to the Hall of Records- one of the side or rear entrances would be unguarded. What’s more, three vigilantes and Axis Prime herself seemed to be distracting the attackers.

Iacon police were beginning to gather around the front entrance to the Hall of Records, but hadn’t yet taken any action against the terrorists.

“Three-Three-Three, where in the nine hells are you?” an aggravated voice asks from XM-333’s commlink. “We need to get out of here!”

The drone commander hollers back, his voice magnified by his own modulator system:

“Stay back!” he warns Niko, XM-333, Snowblind, and anyone else nearby. “Break off your assault, or we will kill the hostages!”

By this time, Tokamak races into the scene and comes into a screeching halt. Converting to robot mode, he rapidly starts to take in the situation around him. It appeared to be chaos, some freaks were attacking the Hall of Records. See the Prime and other run in, only to be shot at, he quickly thought of a plan at assist.

Calculating speeds. Programming routes. Prepare to launch.

Tokamak pulls out his odd blaster and loads ones of his car drones inside. He fires, loads another, launches that one, and repeats until all four drones are out. They race around towards the front entrance, moving past friendly bots and potentially outracing those charging into battle. Once they get close enough, they all turn in different directions and start trying to circle the building. With any luck, enemy combatants would be distracted and try attacking the drones instead of innocents.

With the drones out, and now that he’s seeing authorities gather, Tokamak approaches the nearest officers he can find.

“Officers, I can help!” He says briskly coming to them. “My blaster’s unique, I should be able to hit these lawbreakers without striking civilians. Do I have permission to fire?”

Niko’s shouting snaps Roaster back into the moment.

“What are you doing?! That will just escalate–”

Roaster is cut off as they threaten to kill hostages. She almost shouts about how she was right until she remembers they already shot at a hostage. Maybe they would hold back, but if they’re already shooting, might as well shoot back.

“Never mind! Try and take out the helicopter first! Their builds are often weak, he’ll go down easy! Others can handle the drones!”

She ducks in the first side entrance she can find, slowing down as she tries to sneak her way through the building back to the sound of fighting.

But what if you didn’t, she thinks to herself as she ducks into position, peeking out for a moment to get the lay of the land before slipping back behind cover. She tries to figure out who’s threatening the civilians directly, and who she might be able to get the drop on first from where she’s hiding.

Axis quickly holds her blade in front of her as an impromptu shield to block the bullets.
“You dare to fire upon the Prime!”
She shouted, just before a missile struck the ground nearby.

A burning phoenix shot from the resulting fireball like a rocket, soaring into the air and above the helicopter. Axis then transformed back into her robot mode, retrieved the Star Calibur, and dove down at the terrorist. Hoping to impale her burning blade straight through their center.

Nova meanwhile quickly flipped back and clung to Cargo’s back for cover.

“Sounds good to me!”
Niko replied as he opened fire on the helicopter bot.

OOC: I’m not sure if there’s more than one helicopter in play here. As far as I’m aware Axis’ group and Niko’s group are a fair distance away from each other.

Unable to control his mad rush, Stonefist smashes right into the fern stand, knocking it over and putting a sizeable dent into the fixture, while the fern goes flying. Unfazed, the rocky bot activated the anti-gravity devices implanted within his shell. He floated up a few inches, then began another crazy rumble towards more of the terrorists, hoping to bowl some over this time.

Using all of her agility, Aralysa narrowly avoids the majority of the blasts. However, some still manage to hit her armor. She grunts in anger, and, in retaliation, she opens fire with her own laser blasters, aiming to shoot the annoying drone out of the sky.

XM-333 halted, nearly tripping as they skidded to a halt. “There was an explosion. They might need help.”
They scanned the area, looking for any signs of an enemy or threat, something to shoot at.

XM-333 frowned, or as well as they could with one optic and no eyebrows. “They have hostages.” They replied again. “Are we just going to let this happen?”

Graves steps out in his mech and roars in his modified voice, "We’re willing to talk. I am Sergeant Grave of the UHF Armed Forces. Tell us your demands, and I’ll see what we can do for you!

Cargo

“I’m with you,” says Cargo, whirring the rotary chamber in his cannon as he draws it.

Cargo attempts to tag behind the group, looking for a chance to sneak past the chopper without being seen.
