By the end of the Brotherhood of Makuta’s reign, brothers and sisters betraying their fraternity had unfortunately been nothing new; but while most did it purely so they wouldn’t have to share the power or to gain favor with someone higher in the chain of command, relatively few turned on each other for a noble cause.
Makuta Taioxis

Taioxis (tie-OX-sis) began life as a loyal soldier of the Brotherhood. Although unusually softspoken for a Makuta, he was steadfast, calculating, and incredibly fierce when he needed to be, wielding his origami-like Mondo with deadly efficiency. However, two events caused his faith in the Plan to be shaken and would ultimately lead to him deserting the Brotherhood altogether.
The first was a battle against invaders attacking the region he was supervising. Though the battle ultimately proved a victory for the Makuta, the tide of the battle turned when a single decision ended up being the direct cause of several casualties, including Taioxis’s most trusted lieutenant Nimue (NIH-moo-ay). It is both a blessing and a curse that the battle in question allegedly took place during the “time slip;” as, while no one will remember his failure, he now must always suffer alone. Even so, the few of his brothers who were aware of his victory dismissed any personal loss as “necessary for the success of the Plan,” making Taioxis question his individual worth within the Brotherhood and whether he too could eventually be written off as expendable.
The second was his growing friendship, and eventually relationship, with a Toa of Water named Theras (TEH-rahs). Though Taioxis claimed loyalty to the Brotherhood, she brought out qualities in him he never knew were there and made him question his faith every day. Eventually, Polnoc and Osara caught wind of this and confronted the star-crossed lovers, ordering Taioxis to affirm his loyalty to the Brotherhood and the Plan once and for all, while Theras tried appealing to his good heart. Ultimately, Taioxis chose Theras, and the unlikely duo fought the Dikuta to a stalemate before going on the run.
Neither have been heard from since.
Trivia
- Taioxis, Nimue, and Theras are all inspired by characters from Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Taion, Nimue, and Eunie, respectively.
- Theras will almost certainly get her own figure. I am not sure about Nimue though.
- Taioxis’s piece count is approximate because his thighs contain illegal techniques (which I consider fair game because I’ve used this particular technique in real life before) and I am currently unsure of the exact number required after the mods are said and done. The Mondo are completely purist.
