Obscure/Ridiculous LEGO/BIONICLE Products Discussion

What

How does it scale with the disk launcher piece itself?

Oh

Yeah I did say Dart from the Dart Shooter :smirk:

Would you be able to provide any pictures? From what I can make out on the box, it looks like it could be a fun challenge to try to utilize the dart in a MOC (especially since there aren’t any attachment points).

SMH my head
Who needs attachment points

The bottom is about the size of a technic half beam.

@Wekua the disks are significantly smaller, the 04 disk shooters won’t hold/shoot them.

That’s awesome; that’s exactly the type of thing I was hoping could be done with the part.

Bless you for your insights Rac

Hey, folks! I’m working on a BS01 project documenting various Bionicle merchandise, and this has been an extremely helpful topic. Check out the new Gallery! More information can also be found in the corresponding section of List of Sets and Merchandise. This is a far more extensive index than has been produced so far, although it is built on the work of sites like Brickipedia, BrickLink, and others. Even dug a handful of images out of the Internet Archive including the official set image of the Kopaka sneaker mask:

M7101

If anyone knows of any official items not noted here (or if any notable ebay listings pop up), I’ll be very interested to know! I definitely have a handful of images on my wishlist–there are a lot of items I know exist, but have proven impossible to find. Will try to post a list here sometime soon.

Here’s one I just found today on BZPower, actually. It seems every time I try looking for one merch item I find half a dozen others.

A few years ago there was an eBay listing for a Phantoka dinner set that I wish I’d saved. I think there was a plate, bowl, glass, possibly more

I’ll get back to you if I ever find it again

Found it!

Didn’t see the 2004 bedsheets in the gallery either, so here’s those

I’ve also got much better pictures of the Vakama Toothbrush, if you need them

This is such a good idea! BrickLink’s catalogues for merchandise besides sets is really lacking.

One that I can’t find in your list is this school cone that Bioman posted earlier.

I’m guessing it’s 2006?

Speaking of Inika merch, I just found this school backpack set. There’s a regular Inika backpack on your list, but I didn’t see this specific one:

The listing has more photos. There was also an Inika wallet recently, but I can’t find that anymore.

Definitely never seen this before! Do you have the original product listing? I’ve been trying to include links to those in the gallery to things not listed on Bricklink or Brickipedia for general reference.

Working on this makes me really wish we had a comprehensive list of merch since there’s so much random stuff–I asked a friend at LEGO if he would be able to get one, though he was skeptical he could share it publicly. But I guess we just have to treasure hunt.

Thanks for the reminder! I have it saved on my computer or open in a tab somewhere, along with the the bedsheets. There are a handful of miscellaneous items that I haven’t been able to get up just yet–I’ll try to do that in the next couple days.

Thanks for the catch–There is an ungodly amount of BIONICLE bags and backpacks which don’t have known product listings. That must be the same as this one. Not sure if the smaller ones are the same as the ones in the gallery or not…

I mentioned earlier that there are some items I just haven’t been able to track down, and here’s one: There is a mysterious Gali hat that has been spotted floating around, and apparently the other five Toa had some too. More recently an Onua one surfaced, but the other four have proven elusive…

You could probably create a whole new topic based solely around finding and documenting Bionicle merch for your gallery at this point, it’s like a full-on game!

I just found this shirt while scrolling through Google, from what I can tell it’s on a German site called Lieblingsdings. Looks like it has a Lego logo on the tag which makes me think it’s official.

Here’s the site link:

Looks like a legit site but I have no clue why they’d have this shirt so many years after Bionicle 09.

EDIT - Found something else!

This guy on Twitter has three obscure Bionicle items, two of which as far as I can tell aren’t in the gallery.

Specifically, the raincoat and Thok bracelet are what caught my eye. On the packaging for the Thok bracelet, there’s a “collect them all” prompt which means there’s probably 5 more Piraka bracelets hiding somewhere.

Bottom of the box claims the product code as “LGOJ-0391”

After putting that code into google, I found a Czech website with a listing and official stock photo for the set:

Link to the site: Dárkový jídlení set LEGO Bionicle | 4KIDS.cz ★

There was also a product description, which when translated looks like this:

Affordable gift packaging with a LEGO Bionicle motif.

This practical gift set includes a plastic glass (volume 275ml), a melamine shallow plate (diameter 20cm), a melamine bowl (diameter 14cm).

Melamine is a very light and almost unbreakable material.

Can be washed in the dishwasher (in the upper basket).

Do not use in a microwave oven!

Wash before first use.

There was a video that popped up two, maybe three years ago that I saw with some Bionicle lost media that had a frame which included Mata Tahu, Kopaka, and I think Gali shoe covers in proto form. If I happen across it again I’ll let you know.

There were comic posters released in 01, with pages from the first three comics.

This page has pictures of three of them. I also have Onua and Kopaka’s; sadly, I don’t have Gali’s, nor can I find any pictures of it.

And this bonus

Alrighty, I’ve uploaded every item I’m pretty sure about from this topic and elsewhere; there are only a handful I’ve held off on. Feel free to check again and see if I’ve missed any!

Amazing, this is perfect! I’ve added these to both the gallery and List of Sets pages!

Would be very curious if you do find it again! I’ve seen this one in a BZP article (I think covering BTS for MoL) but I’ve never seen anything beyond this:

Fascinating–So far I’ve added them to Gallery:Comics. Do you remember how these were released? Haven’t had any luck finding Gali either unfortunately.

Great thought…

A bulk lot that I got included this Miru Nuva toy from burger king, released in 2003 to promote Mask of Light.

I’m sure you’ve seen this type of toy before: hold it against a light source, look into the hole on its back and spin the clicky wheel to look at a variety of images. Let’s take a look at those!

Mask of Light logo

Tahu and Takua surfing

Onua

Pohatu

Kopaka

Gali

Takanuva.

This is a pretty neat novelty. The mask itself looks nice, the green is way too dark and its shape is a bit off but it’s still a good display piece. It’s also surprisingly high quality for a burger king toy, doesn’t feel cheap at all!

Is it just me, or is his hand detached in that picture?

I didn’t notice that, but now that you say it.,. Yeah, it really looks like the hand isn’t connected properly. I assume it’s a still image or promo render from Mask of Light, maybe someone can find the exact image for comparison?

It’s not detached: in the movie Toa have a recessed circle in their palms.
