Yeah, that’s not bad. But quite system heavy. If I’m lucky I maybe have the parts to roughly cobble together one such hand here
(fun fact - the sheer amount of system parts that exists and you need for system MoCs is actually part of what made me turn back to Bionicle - the part selection is a lot narrower and thus far more affordable. The only system stuff I typically get ist bar connection stuff because that is very useful for custom heads.)
Just noticing that Scorpion Strike’s picture is not quite accurate to the official Brotherhood banner. And I don’t mean the M - that is intentional (and I will use it here as well) since under Miserix’s leadership there’s really no reason why the Kraahkan would be on the banner (plus I don’t trust my skills with something this complex yet ) . I mean the black stuff around it. Which design should I use? The canon one or the more open one by Scorpion Strike?
So, question:
This really should’ve been a PM instead of a message in this specific topic. If you had checked Gilahu’s posts about the German Bionicle Ignition copy, you may have come across his only comment on the matter:
Though I’m actually thinking of moving it half a centimeter up since teh uncoloured part with the stripes above will also be green (this is where I attach the part that will actually connect it to the standard - so I cannot put anything there, but it will be a visible green extension upwards).
Looking at the original drawing I think it should be fine as it is without moving the design up at all. Ultimately it’s up to you though since it’s your project.
I’m not quite sure what you mean? Scroll up a bit and basically all there is is there.
There is a canon design of the banner, but considering it has a Kraahkan on it and I figured it made no sense to have that on the banner during Miserix’s time, I asked Scorpion Strike to change it up a bit. And the above is the result.
Alright, after about 20h of stitching (which sounds worse than it was - it’s actually kinda relaxing while listening to stuff), I ended up with the following and identified a few problems.
a) its’s kinda hard putting the cloth in the frame so that everything is straight
b) despite using a frame, the cloth is still pulled a bit in some places, further adding to the problem
c) Due to the above, I should have used a marker that’s not permanent or only drawn the pattern on the cloth after it had been put into the frame.
Which now leads to the problem that you can see the marker in various places. Also I need to redo the outlines, but those shouldn’t be critial because there is at least 0.5cm on all sides that won’t be visible in the end.
As far as the embroidery goes otherwise, I think I can be fairly pleased, though. But I guess this will be the back of the banner. Time to do it all again ( and hopefully better) for the other side.
Alright, number 2 (on the left) is done. Still not perfect, but I think an improvement in several areas.
Now all that’s left is (re-)drawing the outlines for the banner, cutting them out, sewing them together, sewing on the top piece, and then I should be done. Will still take a couple hours, though, I estimate.
One step left. However, I discovered a new problem… the cloth I’m using tends to fray a lot on the cut edges (you can see it at the top). That’s not too bad there, because I’ll cover that with the part needed to connect everything to the staff. But that part is designed to have several open edges, because there is no helping it.
I’m fearing how that will look… if it’s tolerable or not, and if it would worsen with time. But I have no better idea right now…
It’s not like you can’t remake the flag at a later date when your skill has improved and you have access to better materials. You’ve made a really great design thus far; keep going with it.
I’m thinking yes, this works, but there is a bit too much air beneath the head. I need to work a bit on the upper torso as well.
And I want to redo the arms. Not because they are bad, but because they are barely visible under the cloak and use several very valuable parts (4 friction sockets in black, 2 Skrall armor pieces, 2 black Metru thigh armor pieces, 2 silver slizer feet.)
I also most certainly could do a better cloak by now, but that’s a lot of cloth I’d need here and I still have 74 more Makuta ahead of me, so I’ll keep the current one.
