Toa Gali and The People of Ga-Koro (4/6)

Hi everyone!
I present the next entry in my revamped Toa line: Gali and the people of Ga-Koro. The trick with Gali revamps has always been walking a line between giving her a feminine build while not losing the shape of her original form or having her stand too far apart from her five brothers. I think that came across in my design of her here, which was inspired by Olympic swimmers. Fitting, I think, for the Toa of Water.

There are several cues to her 2001 set features here, such as the shape of her legs, the extra pins on her hips, and obviously her hooks. Her Toa Tools here were the source of some internal debate, but ultimately, I decided that, like Pohatu, simply augmenting her original tools was the most aesthetically pleasing design. Her shoulders are the last thing to point out, which are armored using the Nuva armor, fitted on by means of those wonderful rubber liftarm pieces that make so many connections possible. You’ve already seen Hahli, though I found two dark blue CCBS shells to add to her arms that make her look more complete, and Maku is a fairly standard design by which you’ve become used to in the series. Turaga Nokama stands out a little bit, with, as in her 2001 set, the longest arms of any of the elders. Her trident was great fun to design, but other than that, she, too, is a standard build in relation to the other Turaga. Hope you like them!

Everybody’s a bit too gangly for my taste, especially Nokama. Someone needs to get these Ga-Koro girls some catering.

Also for unrelated reasons I must now rip off Hahli’s forearms, I will not be providing context for this decision :eye: :eye:

@Ghid Please, feel free to use as much of the designs as you wish! The original Nokama set had comically long arms, nearly touching her ankles, and I did want to honor that, even if aesthetically it looked weird. I felt more compelled to do that for Gali because swimmers tend to have long, long arms, which helps them power their way through the water. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

I like the use of technic parts here- keeps the '01 vibes going strong. If I had to criticise one thing, it’s that Gali’s forearms are a little skinny looking compared to the rest of her, but that’s quite a minor gripe.

IMO this was a good choice, the original Toa tools have a certain charm to them that I think some later sets failed to capture

A good set of mocs all round, I like em

@Enbeanie Minor gripes are still valid! Her arms look a little bit better in person, but blue and medium blue was a bit hard to work with, as the piece variety can be slim. I do agree with you though!

Glad you like her Toa Tool choice. I feel like with her and Pohatu, to not include them would be a big mistake.

Thanks for the praise!
