Toa Hagah (BIONICLE Canon Contest #3: Honor Guard)

Here is my entry for the rest of the Toa Hagah team. We’ll start off first with Toa Kualus. Entry: [image] From what we know about Kualus, he has a deep connection to Rahi. He wears the Mask of Rahi Control and can speak the language of flying Rahi. So my idea was to give him a more bestial look, with armor decorated with bones, a feral looking mask with teeth, and a staff that doubles as a Rahi catcher. Well, looks like I’m so late to the party it’s almost over. In my defence, I’ve been really busy with IRL stuff, and I wasn’t sure whether or not to sit this one out as I’ve had mixed feelings about this particular contest. Since I’ve already got all of them made, I thought I’d enter the contest anyway. I think they might give everyone who still needs to be approved 3 days extra to complete their moc after the 11th so in other words all entries will be checked those not following the rules have until the 14th to fix those submissions. This however is only my speculation

[Bomonga] Bomonga - Toa of Earth Bomonga wears gold armor to signify his role as a deputy leader of the Toa Hagah. His mask of growth is shaped after an Elda to pay respect to the Toa on Jovan’s team who guided them to the mask of life. His speartip seemed appropriate as it resembles a jackhammer. The only custom parts required to build him are the mask and the speartip, which requires painting. Toa Bomonga the Giant [Canon Contest #3: Honor Guard]

[IMG_8201] When I first made my mind up and decided to enter this contest with Bomonga I wanted him to be different. [IMG_8193] His bio describes him as being different from the usual Toa of Earth, mostly silent and preferring to work alone, so I wanted him to also look different. [IMG_8199] So I made him look more sleek and elegant, more slender and upright than the usual Toa of Earth. I also originally wanted to use gold but when I looked more into his character, I realized that Bomonga didn’t need to show that he is very powerful or that he is second in command. Pouks, Toa of Stone - BIONICLE Canon Contest #3: Honor Guard

Pouky is finally here boys lets get this party started lads lets go. [Pouks 3] (this is the main picture BTW) [Pouks 2] [Pouks front back and side] In the third picture here you can quite clearly see that the pin that hold the front of the metru torso on aren’t actually going though the holes. This is just an error in the Stud.io model, it doesn’t actually have any baring in how the MOC looks. [custom mask image owo] The mask used here is one that I designed and modelled myself. I’m calling it the Rorirori, and saying its a Mask of Heat, but in the context of this contest that doesn’t really matter all that much. I think we all can be a good samaritan and check if the entries doesn’t have anything that could get them DQ. If they have a breakdown photo, Studio file, link to custom mask and spear, size comparison, specify if they allow to change mask, color and spear, are the ones that come to mind.

If you’re going to do that, I’d recommend making it clear that you aren’t a contest moderator, so people don’t take it as official approval/review of their entries. Something like this:

We’re getting close to ‘zero hour’ here and I want to make sure mine made it in (and others’ did too)!

I’m not a contest moderator, so I can’t say definitively, but I don’t see any DQ-worthy problems with your mocs. You’ll likely need a height comparison showing that they’re not taller than Iruini/shorter than Whenua, though.

(is this being overly cautious? Maybe, but I’d rather not get in trouble for playing moderator when I’m not)

Hello, and welcome to my entries into the Toa Hagah Canon Contest! [image] To prepare for this task, I first read through every canon appearance of the Hagah, including their quotes in the Rahi Guidebook, taking notes as I went of character traits, feats of strength they performed, and other things that would help me make their appearance stay true to how they acted in the story. Some Hagah, like Kualus and Bomonga, had fairly definitive characters. Others, like Pouks and Gaaki, had relatively less screen time, allowing me to be more creative with my interpretation of them. To give a general overview of the design philosophy I followed with my Hagah, I aimed to give the whole team a similar build diversity to the Mahri or Mata, my favorite Toa teams. I tried my best to do unique thing…

[Hagah Group 3] Better late than never! I originally aimed to enter these about two weeks ago, but thanks to a combination of boring life stuff and good ol’ procrastination, I never got around to finishing them until last night. My overall goal for these was to make them as cohesive with Norik and Iruini as possible, and to my mind’s eye, that meant having them share builds with one another. If you care for more reasoning on this, for a real life explanation, I remain convinced that that’s how it would have been done in 2005 had we gotten the remaining four Hagah. As for an in-universe explanation, the way I see it, their armor is their uniform, metallic and non-metallic alike. Traitors of Teridax: Bionicle Canon Contest #3 Honor Guard

These are my renditions of the Toa Hagah. Bomonga had to be made digitally as my printer started having issues while the contest was going on. Toa Hagah Bomonga the Procrastinated [Toa Hagah Bomonga (dyanmic)] Bababooey was a very interesting experience for me. I made him as a part of a collaboration between @Minirigby and @Galva_Nize. Babingus is based off Makuta Teridax’s 2003 design. Prior to the contest I had a rather generic representation of Boingoingo, and I pretty much worked my current version from the ground up. I procrastinated a ton on Bingzak’s design because of stress (mostly stemming from difficulty using Studio, and my printer fritzing out).
