#3: Ga-Matoran (MNOG Project)

#The MNOG Project: Ga-Matoran

Welcome to the MNOG Project:

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be reviewing every named Matoran from both Mata Nui Online Games in set form, complete with items and props based on those found and used by the Matoran of Mata Nui.

This time, I’ll be reviewing the Ga-Matoran.

#Sailors

The sailors were briefly reviewed in the Ga-Koro Boat topic. You can see more images of the boat over there.

Pelagia

Occupation: Sailor
Appears in: MNOG II
Tools / Props: Boat

Kai

Occupation: Sailor
Appears in: MNOG II
Tools / Props: Telescope

Marka

Occupation: ■■■■■■■■■■, teacher
Appears in: MNOG II
Tools / Props: Cargo

#Crafters

Amaya

Occupation: Flax maker
Appears in: MNOG I (presumably), MNOG II
Tools / Props: ‘Flax rack’
Details: Amaya was not mentioned by name in MNOG I, though a Matoran guarding the village matches her appearance.

I’m unaware of what this prop she uses in MNOG II is supposed to be or what its name is, though I recreated it regardless.

Kailani

Occupation: Crafter
Appears in: MNOG II
Tools / Props: Crafting station

Disclaimer: Due to the relative rarity of brown System pieces, Kailani’s crafting station (wooden) was made in tan instead.

Shasa

Occupation: Weaver
Appears in: MNOG I (presumably), MNOG II
Tools / Props: Loom
Details: Shasa was not mentioned by name in MNOG I, though a Matoran guarding the village matches her appearance.

Disclaimer: Due to the relative rarity of brown System pieces, Shasa’s loom (wooden) was made in tan instead. For the Technic components of the loom, light bluish gray was used as tan is rare for these pieces.
Also, for the record, I don’t know how a loom works so try not to criticise the mechanism based on how looms are supposed to work.

The loom does have a gear function, though it’s more for show and doesn’t actually do anything besides turn the gears at the side and back - probably not worth making a video for.

Inspiration

Amaya’s flax-making rack.

Kailani’s crafting station.

Shasa’s loom.

#Trader

Okoth

Occupation: Trader
Appears in: MNOG II
Tools / Props: Stall

Disclaimer: I would have ideally made the stall brown, however brown pieces are quite rare - tan was the most convenient option.
Okoth does not display anything in her stall, nor is the stall of the typical design (I didn’t feel it was worth making another one).

Inspiration

Okoth’s stall - a variation on the regular design found with most other traders.

The regular design of the stall, for which the stall here was made.

turaga

Kotu

Occupation: Attendant of Turaga Nokama, Rahi Tender, Kolhii player
Appears in: MNOG I, MNOG II
Tools / Props: Clipboard

Macku

Occupation: Attendant of Turaga Nokama, Kolhii player
Appears in: MNOG I, MNOG II
Tools / Props: Clipboard

#Teachers

During MNOG II, Hahli learned about the Principle of Purity from Marka, and trained in the Kolhii skill of Speed by chasing the Takea shark in Naho Bay.

Hahli

Occupation: Assistant flax maker, Kolhii player, explorer
Appears in: MNOG II
Tools / Props: Leaf knapsack

Hahli travels to C7 with Pelagia.

Hahli chases the Takea Shark.

The Takea Shark, as seen in MNOG II and in the Master Builder set.

#Miscellaneous

Nireta

Occupation: Navigator
Appears in: MNOG II
Tools / Props: Maps and charts

Nixie

Occupation: Astrologer
Appears in: MNOG I, MNOG II
Tools / Props: Telescope

Inspiration

#The Biowave Project - a Community Initiative

I and a few other members of the Bionicle community are currently developing content for an expanded G1 storyline, which includes MOCs and a webcomic series covering events following the defeat of Makuta Teridax.

###The Biowave Project Website is now live.

All of our work for the project will be archived on the site.

Along with project and set overviews, you’ll find several new entries into the Story section:

###Looking for an Artist

Our previous lead artist was unable to continue working on the webcomic series due to a lack of free time.
If anyone is interested in producing the first episode of the series (i.e. drawing and writing each frame), please contact me.
Whether you’re set on fulfilling the role or not, please don’t hesitate to ask about the project and the work required.

It is highly desirable that you:

  • Have existing artwork to show to us,
  • Have a reasonable amount of free time to commit to the project,
  • Can utilise an art style that closely resembles the following (or that is simple, such as the MNOG style):

Our previous artist’s style: inspired by the movies’ aesthetic, and by the MNOG art style.

you are really making an awesome job with this

Amazing as always.

This is all beyond amazing :scream:

Especially the stall and loom

I love all of the furniture and tools you made for them.

These are really cool. Definitely getting flashbacks of MNOG/2 With Meso.

Extremely accurate and well done.

These are getting increasingly more impressive.

This series continues to amaze me. Once again the paint jobs are splendid and the various structures look remarkable.

Really looking forward to the Po- Matoran!

This looks incredible! Fantastic work, I really really like it!

Everything here is just
wow

That loom is fantastic, and the telescope is brilliant in its simplicity. I need to make some.

The loom is probably my favourite thing :3

My favorite part was the Takei shark…
Oh, the loom was cool too XD.

But in all seriousness, what you’re doing here is fantastic.

These are good. I really like them. You did a great job painting the parts and they seem very faithful to the game, and the props you made for them are excellent! I look forward to seeing more in this series.

Brown pieces are far more common then tan ones, though…

I love how much character all those girls had, and your work is spectacular!

My favorite one in the game is Pelagia.

they look amazing
