BIONICLE Canon Contest #2: Meet the Maker

We have no rules against it, however it is worth keeping in mind that multiple limbs like that probably would have been described.

It is.

It wasn’t said he wasn’t a Hecatoncheir, so I think it’ll pass. I want to submit something different than just another big dude.

It looks like the original argument was smothered under misunderstanding statements so instead I’ll redirect the convo again:

A lot of people seem to be in favor of Gold or Silver as the mask/secondary color for Artakha, but there’s been at least one contestant so far with White. What do you guys think is the most accurate color for Artakha’s mask/secondary color?

I prefer a gunmetal mask with gold or blue runes but I’m open to other interpretations. The runes would also go on top of the sand green armor, which could be made into decals.

Most likely the winning artwork will have a gold or sand green mask though.

I don’t think Greg has a color in mind.

But me personally, I always pictured it being gold, or at least some metallic color. BIONICLE and LEGO in general has a gold = special rule.

Reading through that mask discussion, and gosh that sounded rather uncivil. Not sure what’s even trying to be won there.

Anyways. I wouldn’t take Greg’s comment as it not being gold, more that he just doesn’t know.

Personally I’m not quite happy with any existing Mask of Creation designs I’ve seen (G2, Khing’s, Galva’s or Onuku’s) and I’d rather have a new one all together, but I like the mask being crown-like.

Particularily, I think there’s two details not captured in any of the designs:

His mask was the most ornate anyone had ever seen – more than just a Kanohi, it was a true work of art. The metallic protodermis from which it was forged was arranged in intricate patterns and designs, each reflecting one of the many cultures that flourished in the universe. The eye slits were angular and pointed, giving him an air of both wisdom and a vague sense of menace."

I think making the mask gold makes the most sense, compared to the Vahi and Ignika, and that gold shouldn’t be present in Artakha’s native colorscheme. This wasn’t a mask he was made with, he won it, I think it should stick out as something special like the golden masks from 2002, else it I feel it loses its legendary air.

I’m not sure the runes are even allowed to be seperately colored. Depending on the rules, mask may need to be one solid color.

As @TheJerminator said, if we’re going to create a new design, we should do one that fits the description. Otherwise, this contest will be disappointing, like the Helryx one.

@Wolk, if it’s the same rules as last time, the mask can be dual-colored.

The one-colour rule is just for painted pieces in the MOC contest. The Art can portray the mask in multiple colours.

Or any ‘piece’ for that matter.

Also, the gist of the argument was whether or not the G2 Mask should even be allowed. One group said it should be banned, and one group said it should be treated like any other piece. Then there was a third, smaller group saying the G2 Mask should automatically be the G1 Mask.

Then it got out of hand.

@Ghid

I think I’d like the Mask to be gold, with Artakha having no gold on himself. As others have said, the Mask of Creation was won by Artakha. It was not made for him. There is no reason for him to have the Mask’s colour on him. Having it be a different colour makes it stand out as a trophy.

And I think that that colour should be gold because it is a Legendary Kanohi.

Though I’m not opposed to the runes being silver or something.

I think an argument can be made for pretty much any colour.

One the one hand, Artakha got the mask after he was built, so it doesn’t necessarily match his colour scheme at all.

On the other hand, Artakha could have easily changed his armour colour to match the Mask.

Which gold though? The two Legendary masks we have are different colours.

This is why I personally like the idea of using the copper used on the Masks of Victory - it’s already an established “special” colour associated with rarity and fine craftsmanship.

I’d personally like to see the mask be metallic sand green, but if it has to be gold, then I’d definitely prefer it to be the only gold on Artakha.

I’m pretty sure that the Vahi and the Ignika are canonically the same gold. Lego just changed their colour pallette.

So, in a physical form, it would probably be new gold. But in-universe, gold is gold.

Though I also like the idea of it being the same colour as the Copper Masks of Victory, which would be a different colour.

Artakha The Maker

Here is my entry. I am hoping it meets the standards, as I was a bit confused by some of the wording.
