[Version 3] I’m super happy with all the feedback everyone has given me! Here is hopefully the last batch of tweaks before the contest ends. My schedule is kinda hectic so I’m shooting a moving target here. Removed the hose intakes on the mask to give it a more streamlined look. I imagine the crown piece as being a sort of radar dish for receiving and transmitting psychic energies. The side view was very difficult to draw, so may not entirely make physical sense. In such cases the front view takes priority.

Allright, here is my entry to the art contest. It may look a bit weird, but bare with me - I had a reason for such design choices. [Хелрикс финал] And here is the mask reference sheet: [Маска] Ok, now for the explanation: The challenge of envisioning the design of Helryx comes with the idea that she is the very first Toa , very primitive and somewhat fragile. So with this in mind I came to conclusion that her armor should resemble shells of very early creatures, like crustaceans from the Cambrian period - time when Earth was completely covered with ocean, and first complex life forms started emerging (and most of them were like crayfish, shrimp and other little guys with shells). And that most important is - this Cambrian theme fits very well with Helryx being ancient, and being a To…

[Toa Helryx Mask Contest Version (Final Product)] Hey guys, this is my submission for the art portion of the Toa Helryx canonization contest, I started work on this mask and custom Mace & Shield along with an bonus Short Sword the moment I heard that the contest had been first announced, I made a number of modifications to @TheUnderscoredDouble’s build to better suit the mask such as increasing her height slightly and along with that, giving her a straighter posture. I have no idea if this build would even stay together without falling apart in real life so if any of you guys have more experience in that field, please do let me know. [image] This is my take on Helryx the first Toa. (All drawn with pencils and colored in with colored pencils ) I will go over some of this drawings features. For the torso I wanted to look as close to a mata torso as possible without straight up replicating a mata. I made the torso very spindly and in some parts see through, it’s full of pistons and the like. I added some tubing going from the bottom to the top as a nod to the original moc. I enjoy that detail. I also added the weird technic ball some of the Mata had on their chests. Helryxs hands and feet are kept in line with the moc. I just added a few extra details on the back of the mata feet, to invoke more of the water element. For the armour I made it look as alien as possible why still in line with the Bionicle universe. [cps project comic1] [cps project all archive] The ancient, the determined, Helryx returns in the latest issue of Destiny War! Styled after Randy Elliot’s work with the comics, this is my depiction of Helryx. I found it best to depict this character as familiar as possible, shying away from artsy interpretation. The first image depicts Helryx discovering rahkshi fragments as mentioned in Destiny War, to which she will use her mask powers on. The mask itself was inspired by the original Faber “tohunga” concepts. There are some direct design elements from the noble mahiki, noble komau, akaku, pakari and hau masks which carried over into my rendition. The overall shape of the mask was inspired by KingK’s own version. From the get go I knew Helryx needed slanted eyes. It evokes wisdom and…

The Mask took the longest to make, I had alot of different sketches and ideas. Also drawing the top portion of this mask was a nightmare. But I just hope it looks alright. I must commend TheUnderscoredDouble for his awsome design it was really fun to draw and try to replicate the different parts of the moc and it was fun to try and translate it from moc to artwork.
