Powers and Weapons: “Bitter Cold” is one of several that possesses an unusual power, what some refer to as “false elements.” For him, that power is the creation, alteration, and control of Dry Ice. An advantage gained by this is that his icy blasts are initially colder and burns those it strikes. However, unlike the element of Ice, he does not possess the power to lower temperature itself. Another natural consequence of this “element” is that he’s covered in a thick fog of poisonous fumes. Immune to the mild poison himself, other hunters must stay away from him by a certain radius. It has been noted that it is not as heavy and toxic as “Spinner’s” polluted air; even “Bitter Cold” gets sick from that cloud. Though similar to “Spinner,” he has some control of this fog and can create more of it, covering entire villages.

As for weapons, “Bitter Cold” often uses his bladed crossbow rifle, a weapon that can channel his “elemental” powers or spew blasts of liquid nitrogen. If need be, it can be used as a makeshift ax or sword. His secondary weapon is one that he rarely uses, but always has on him. A large cannon that can generate and fire large solid chunks of dry ice, or explosive variants that fills an area with deadly shards and toxic fog.

Personality: For someone of his abilities, “Bitter Cold” is quite an usual fellow. Cheery and gleeful, he’s often humming happy tunes and tries to socialize with those even outside of the Dark Hunters. Though one of his less appreciated traits his is obsession with poetry. A condition so terrible that nary does anyone ever hear him speak outside of one of many poetic forms. And those that think they did likely just heard him use a free verse.

For “The Shadowed One,” however, this hunter has a different trait their leader despises. “Bitter Cold” will only complete the objective and nothing more. If someone gets in the way and is actively trying to stop them, he will not kill that person. If the directive was to kill them, then perhaps he would, but since it is not, he’ll try to leave them alone. If they’re persistent enough, he’ll attempt to incapacitate them. Even if given the orders to kill everyone that tries to stop him on the mission, if it can be avoided, he will. For such virtue, he has been a surprisingly popular hire for Matoran and Turaga who lack Toa.

Background: When and how “Bitter Cold” came to the Dark Hunters is unknown. Not that is is difficult to find out, for he is more than willing to sing of his epics. No, it remains unknown because the other hunters wish to avoid his cryptic poetry at all costs. Though of the few lines actually heard, this is what they know.
> “A place not yours but like mine.”
“Heroes turned Lords with suffering abound.”
“Of Hand and Spirit, Of Dark and Virus we rose.”
“From fleeting thoughts we came,
From fleeting thoughts they sought we return.”

Designer’s Notes: You may or may not have noticed this fellow has been on the list for awhile as “Redoing.” This is not quite the same as a revamp (as with “Disarm”), for I never built this character before. Rather, this character already had a model associated with it, but not built by me.

Back in late 2011 on the Lego Message Boards, a fellow by the username Eragon3443 created a topic offering up to build MOCs for people. As I did not have many parts, I could not build my main Bionicle roleplay character, so I requested that my character, Tredixs, be built. And while what he build was fine, it’s a perfectly suitable MOC, it just was not Tredixs to me. Though not wanting it to go to waste, and with inspiration from its head design, I created the new character of “Bitter Cold.” Pictures of the original below:

And while this still does work well enough, I decided that it would be better for me to build my own version of the character. For while I may have re-purposed this requested MOC into a new character, the design overall is a bit too heroic. Still too much of a hero in appearance. So now we have what you’ve seen above. I started with the head, and you can probably see the initial start being the same as the old one. The Zamor Launcher with Climbing Claw attached to the back. It just kind of spiraled way out from there into the rest of the creation.

I really like his very complex design, especially the head.

His arms are a bit too thin, but overall good job. 8.6/10

He has a really Sidorakish head, but the MOC overall looks pretty. good, capturing the dark hunter feel to it

Thanks!

Thanks. I personally think that the thinner arms make him look a bit more sinister, but, yeah, maybe if they were a bit thicker it would look better.

Thanks. As for Sidorakish head…Eeeehhhh. Eeeehhhh. I can see where you’re coming from, but I don’t know…Huh. I suppose there isn’t many comparable sets for the head.
